I would like to thank all those whom made trip to cleveland and hope you all have learnt something from the trip even though i think some of you might have not been learning kendo but the art of puking and you know whom that is@! and for the rest of us very exciting weekend as we got see Murakami sensei -president of AUSKF and Kato sensei doing Iaido seminar and the hopes of someday be able to do this here, and great news from Mari-san (our senior student whom moved) just had there first child -congrad’s to them and Greg is getting Married very soon congrads to he and soon to be wife,and to all whom passed test congrad’s to those ;

Hello all Herb here hope your 09 season is starting off very good , well class has just started over and i hope to see all armour wearing people there as we get ready for some great practices and training for our next tournamnet run to Cleveland and i have been informed of some other practice and training chances for us and you as well.
There is a joint practice at OSU on Febuary 1st FROM 12-NOON to 4pm it will start off with kata practice and then keiko -this is to help get ready for Detriot tornament .
next is Febuary 14th DETRIOT tournamnt-one of the largest to date and headed by Tagawa sensei 8th
dan .
Also there is another March 7th practice at this is a Saturday EVENT there will be promotions and a ECUSKF board meeting this is University of Kentucky .
ON Febuary 21st we are hosting a clinic/seminar here at shawnee to help Gonzales sensei get ready for a early May test for his 6th dan so please all who would like to come and watch with amour or not this is going to be a great event with students from OU-CLEVELAND KENDO ALLIANCE and possilbe some from UK will also be there it starts at 12 noon and will end between 4:30 or 5PM .
I look forward to seeing all of yopu at one of these events ;

Hello al ;
all last test of year and this was big one as we now have 16 new 8th dans in kendo and it is a very hard to test to pass only 1% pass this test that take it and it seems this is know different -i have not yet heard from Inoshita sensei whom they are just yet but when i do i will post it for you and i will see all of you back in class on Thutsday as to get you ready for your finals as well see you then.

Hey cold weather is around corner and coming very soon so please stay posted to check for class times and closings o.k.
Small marshall gathering to meet Hiro-san was great and now hiro has helped in two beginners classes and has helped me with my kendo as well as making a new friend , we will be going to marshall on the 7th of November to do a big demo with aikido and Judo clubs and look forward to a GREAT GATHERING AFTERWARDS at resturant for fine food and friends.

Hey for those of you that missed Marshall demo we had a great time had about 60 people watching and lots of questions and we then let them hit us and see what they think of kendo -all seemed to think it was easy but learned with a couple swings it wasn’t and would take a life time of practice.
Hiro Kobayashi was with us,he is marshall leap student and very ,very good at competion kendo we look forward to our friendship with Kobayashi-san and will learn much from him .
We will be apart of very big Demo at Marshall on Nov.7th at 6pm -to 8pm with aikido and Judo clubs there and will sponsered by Japanese Language club of Marshall -I as well other at dinner party we had a very good time food and drinks were very good and company was even better.

Hello all Herb here;
Well this Friday we go to Marshall to check on a new student and hopefully a satillite club for us this will be a good thing we hope as to spread kendo to other college campus.
We also had a group of students go to Memphis tournament this past weekend and had a couple promotions in Irish-(bentley) to nikyu or in modern terms brown belt and also Karen Inoshita to sankyu also brown belt ,and team competion SOKC faired ok and we will now look forward to woking very hard to get ready for Cleveland next year in April .
